Animals and Ears

I feel like a post more about Ivy than I do the other kids, but this kid keeps us on our toes. So without further ado, another post about Ivy.
I went to the zoo on Friday with Ivy's kindergarten class. We had a great time. I took Adelaide and she totally behaved, MIRACLE! I am so glad I was able to go play with Ivy. We had a group with 2 other girls from her class, and they all got along well. It really turned out to be a great day.
Yesterday was our ward's Relief Society Birthday Breakfast. Jason volunteered to help babysit, so of course that means all my kids were at the church too.
So there I am having a great time when Jason runs in with Ivy. She has put a plastic bead in her ear and they can't get it out. With help from Julieanne who so kindly took Adelaide home with her, and the recommendation of a quick care place, we headed out to get the bead removed.
I must say, Ivy was a trooper. While she was pretty scared it would never come out again, she held really still while the Dr. put some long skinny tweezers in her ear and pulled out the elusive bead. She has since promised us that she will never again put anything in her ear, or up her nose, but her bellybutton is fair game!

NOW FOR SOME ZOO PICTURES...

Lots of stuff we did today.

Sorry, I know this post is going to be very jumbled, but I have a lot to say today.

First: Pinkalicious.

Ivy is totally in love with this book. We read it every night literally, without fail. Its a really cute story about a little girl who turns pink from eating too many pink cupcakes. So today Ivy decided we need to live the story. We made a batch of very pink cupcakes. They had to look like the ones in the book so Jason had to buy Maraschino Cherrys for us. Then when they were done, Ivy ate about 6 all by herself. Her skin didn't turn pink, but her tongue sure did!

Second: Spelling with Ivy.

I love this segment. She cracks me up. Here is what she spelled today...

ap - ple ju-i-ce, that spells apple juice.

s -t-o-p that spells stop.
at least shes learning to spell some things right!

Third: Ice Skating with Emilie.

Today Emilie's Girl Scout Troop had an ice skating lesson to earn the sport badge. Some of the girls did really well, some not so much. Emilie wasn't too bad, and she only cried when she saw me taking pictures of her. She told me when it was over that she wants to do it again really soon. I wonder if I could get Jason in a pair of ice skates?

Fourth and final: Emilie's joke.

She told me a joke on the way home from skating, then she told me I should tell it to all my friends. So here it is everybody.

Where do sneakers go on vacation?
Lace Vegas! HA HA HA!

My Service Project

I AM TIRED OF STRESSING OVER THE MESSY STATE OF EMILIE'S ROOM. I HAVE BEEN TRYING TO TAKE A MORE RELAXED APPROACH FOR THE LAST MONTH OR SO. SHE HAS TO CLEAN IT BEFORE FRIENDS CAN COME OVER, BUT OTHERWISE I JUST CLOSE THE DOOR AND WALK AWAY FROM THE MESS. THIS BEING SAID, I COULDN'T STAND IT ANYMORE.

SO I DECIDED TO DO AN ACT OF SERVICE FOR MY ELDEST DAUGHTER, AND CLEAN HER ROOM, THE RIGHT WAY, THE MOM LEVEL OF CLEAN, NOT THE 8 YEAR OLD LEVEL OF CLEAN IT USUALLY GETS. I ALSO THOUGHT THAT IF I CALL IT A SERVICE PROJECT, I WILL BE LESS LIKELY TO GET REALLY CRABBY, AND MAD AT MY LITTLE DARLING. THAT THEORY ACTUALLY WORKED. I CLEANED IT, AND I FELT GREAT ABOUT DOING SOMETHING NICE FOR EMILIE. I EVEN FOUND ALL THE THINGS THAT HAVE BEEN "LOST" FOR THE LAST MONTH.

SO HERE THEY ARE, THE BEFORE AND AFTER PICTURES.

WHAT YOU CAN'T SEE IS ALL THE STUFF SHOVED UNDER THE BED AND IN THE CLOSET. I SHOULD HAVE TAKEN A PICTURE AFTER I PULLED EVERYTHING OUT.

IT TOOK ME 3 HOURS TO ACHIEVE THIS LEVEL OF CLEAN!

I EVEN ORGANIZED THE CLOSET.

Addy finds her bellybutton

She loves to play with it now that she has discovered it. She was cracking me up this morning with all this crazy hair. What a fun kid!
